Ginger Bok Choy- Elegant Vegetable Side Dish

Ginger Bok Choy Recipe

Bok Choy is the perfect side to go with fish, shrimp and scallops or any other protein of your choice. Bok Choy is a Chinese cabbage. So easy to make. So here I am going to provide you with a couple of options.

What you will need Option 1 :

  • Preferably a cast iron skillet
  • 1 pound of Bok Choy
  • Juice of one Lemon
  • Zest of one lemon
  • 4 Garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon of minced Ginger
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon of low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of Sesame Oil
  • 1/4 cup of bone broth
  • 1 tablespoon of TOASTED sesame seeds

Instructions for making Option 1 :

  • I split my Bok Choy longways down the middle. See my photo
  • In a small bowl, mix together the following:
    -Juice of one Lemon
    – 4 Garlic cloves minced
    – 1 tablespoon of minced Ginger
    – 1 1/2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    – 1 tablespoon of low sodium soy sauce
    – 1 teaspoon of Sesame Oil
  • Brush your mixture all over the flat side of your Bok Choy halves
  • Drizzle a bit of your Extra Virgin Olive Oil covering entire base of your cast iron skillet.
  • Turn on your stove at high heat to heat up your cast iron skillet.
  • Add Bok Choy flat side down into your cast iron skillet until slightly browned for about 3 minutes and leaves start to become wilted.
  • Just before flipping over, add just a bit of your Bone Broth…Then flip over and cook on the other side for about another 2- 3 minutes
  • When done, place on a platter, squeeze a bit of lemon juice, add your lemon zest and sprinkle a half teaspoon of Toasted Sesame Seeds

What you will need Option 2 :

Instructions for making Option 2:

  • I split my Bok Choy longways down the middle. See my photo
  • If doing fast and easy Option 2:
    – Spray all Bok Choy with PAM Olive Oil (saving calories here)
    – Brush the flat side (cut side) with the Sesame Ginger sauce made by Maple Grove Farms of Vermont.
  • Spray your Pam Olive Oil covering entire base of your cast iron skillet.
  • Turn on your stove at high heat to heat up your cast iron skillet.
  • Add Bok Choy flat side down into your cast iron skillet until slightly browned for about 3 minutes and leaves start to become wilted.
  • Just before flipping over, add just a bit of your Bone Broth…Then flip over and cook on the other side for about another 2- 3 minutes
  • When done, place on a platter, squeeze a bit of lemon juice, add your lemon zest and sprinkle a half teaspoon of Toasted Sesame Seeds
